It's been nearly an entire week and we managed to make it to 6 soccer games and 1 football game, as well as 2 6am practices, and 10 practices in the afternoon and evenings. Throw in piano lessons and scouts and that is about our week.
Chase had a rough week in goal. He was "keeper" for both school games and the 4th quarter of his AYSO game. He was a little discouraged after the opposing team tied it up with less than a minute to play. He is convinced that if they lose everyone blames the "keeper". Needless to say we had several discussions on the topics of "team" sports and how his future in the MLS are no less diminished.
Karai tried to help Chase out by reminiscing his soccer season last year but, I don't think Chase was in a mood to listen.
He was also able to go to a workshop for his "Citizenship in the Nation" merit badge. He was hoping to go to his first Jr. High dance, but his parents are really mean and said, "no way!"
Karai's week was more of the same, football 5 days a week, soccer 2 days. Gladly, his coach couldn't find a place to practice on Thursdays so they only had one practice.
He played against Highland High School on Wednesday. His coach even let him finally kick one away on the kick off instead of the usual on-side kick. He kicked it over 50 yards, was the first one down the field to get in the face of the returner who proceeded to fumble the ball and Karai recovered it! It was great! They won with a final score of 18-6.
His soccer game was good as well. Still no goals, but he got a couple of shots off anyway. They won there 4-0.
Ally had a good week as well. Piano seems to be going well if she can remember to practice. She is doing great in school, even though she doesn't seem to think so. I was even able to help out in her classroom "prep"-ing the science kits with another mom.
For her soccer game this week she had to face her former coaches, the Coaches Sweeny. She has loved them and been with one or both of them as a coach since she started playing soccer. It was a hard fought game and they did really well up until the end of the game when the coach realized that he had all his best defenders sitting out. They did really well and managed to hold the other team scoreless. Right up until about 15 seconds remained in the game. It was a bummer to loose, but they played great.
The biggest excitement there was the fact that we had the snack. Karai had a choir fundraiser selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts so we bought some to take for the snack. Great plan for an 8am game, right? It was a perfect plan right up until the doughnuts were attacked by an ant infestation. Luckily we had bought 3 dozen and brought out 2 dozen for the team. So we still had the "less-protein-filled" doughnuts, sans ants, in the car. It all worked out anyway.
Bryce had a fun week. He really likes Kindergarten and his teacher, Mrs. Harnish. He is doing great on his phonograms and got an 9/14 on his last test. Not bad for someone who could only barely write his own name just 5 weeks ago. He is even starting to read some words on his own. He is completely off of his medications and "so far, so good". His progress is really great considering what we thought of our prospects about 2 1/2 years ago. He is perfectly normal. Or as normal as someone in our gene-pool could hope to be.
It was fun for me to be able to go help in his class for a little while this week. I hope to be able to do it often.
He had another great soccer game, scoring 4 goals for his team, and finishing the game injury free.
Tegan had a "normal" week of being dragged from this game to that practice to the next thing. She is pretty good about entertaining herself now while everyone is at school, although she is still glad when it is time to pick up Bryce. Sometimes she even plans a special outfit for the occasion. (See below)
Yesterday she enjoyed some time painting with water colors. Right up until she painted the inside of her ear. Needless to say, now she is on restriction from painting.
Then she decided to color with crayons instead. Right up until she started chewing the paper off the crayons to sharpen them in the pencil sharpener. Now she is on restrictions from crayons.
Tegan is one of a kind and celebrating her birthday today. If you ask her how old she is she will tell you, "4 or 5". Just because she looks that old don't be fooled, she is only 3.
Today for her birthday, after we went to Institute, we went to Target to buy some Play-Doh. We have been completely out for a while now. She was having fun and playing so quietly until I turned around.
Do you know what these colors look like all smashed together?
Happy Birthday Baby Girl!
We Love You!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TEGAN!!
I love it - Tegan is such great FUN! I have no idea how you do it all. I get lost sometimes in my little world, then I read your blog and think, "I can't complain..." I enjoy reading about your fun times.
Trish
I love the pictures -- especially of Tegan standing in what appears to be a pink bucket. You go birthday girl! And thanks for being willing to support me down the road. I appreciate it and hope I can do the same for you. And I just had a thought (whoa)! You do realize that you are an "athletic supporter" to your kids, don't you??? :-) Have a lovely day, my supportive friend!
